A Table in the Dales, a Kitchen Rooted in Bangladesh

We opened 7eventy1 because we missed the food we grew up with â not the generic curry-house menu, but the real thing. Whole spices ground fresh each morning. Mustard oil. River fish done properly. Slow-cooked goat from recipes our families have kept for generations.

Appleby gave us a home, and we wanted to give something back: honest Bangladeshi cooking, served without pretence, in a market town that deserves more than the ordinary.

Our Story

The Food

Our kitchen runs on recipes that never needed a cookbook â passed down by word of mouth through kitchens in Sylhet, Dhaka, and the Chittagong hills. Each dish carries a specific place and memory.

We cook with whole spices, fresh curry leaves, and mustard oil. Nothing from a jar. Nothing reheated. Every order is made to yours.

Ring ahead, collect from the door, or sit down and let us look after you. The menu is the same either way â no shortcuts for takeaway orders. Same spices, same care, same portions.

We are open seven evenings a week for collection and delivery within the Appleby area.
